The Dark Room series, composed of paintings and drawings, arises from the impulse to move beyond appearances and search for what lies beneath the surface.
I begin with dark, textured abstractions, layering liquid media on canvas or paper. At times, I use untreated canvases once placed on the studio floor, already marked by accidental stains and the slow passage of time. After a period of quiet observation, suggested forms begin to emerge—shapes that ask to be revealed. I then respond with dry media (pastels, oil sticks, wax pencils), accompanying their appearance rather than imposing a fixed narrative.
In this process, I see myself less as a creator than as a mediator. The resulting works are inhabited by hybrid, enigmatic beings: fragments of a veiled story that whispers rather than declares.
