Demo crazy
Rome, January 2013. General election period in Italy.
In many streets of Rome, large metal panels have been installed to display the advertising posters of various political parties. As the electoral campaign begins, these panels—rusted and still bearing remnants of past posters—stand ready to host the new products of the political market.
I photographed these rusty panels before they were taken over by campaign posters. Some of these images I digitally transformed in Photoshop, turning them into bright, vivid compositions, which I then printed in the format of electoral posters.
My performance consists of pasting these colorful, seductive posters on the same panels, mimicking the conventions of political advertising. The project is a playful and ironic reflection on the role of visual seduction in the marketing of political campaigns, highlighting how form and allure often take precedence over content.
